My favorite artwork was this last project Identity. I liked this project because it represented my life and it made the project more meaningful. I think my best artwork was the identity one because it had the most meaning but my favorite one to make was the architecture project when I created the tiny house. If I were to redo a project I would redo the non-representational artwork. I really was struggling to come up with an idea and my project kept falling apart. Something that I have learned in this art class that can apply to real life is to be creative not just in making art. I also learned to make good choices and be kind to others :). One thing I wish we could have done in art class is to use clay.

My artwork is a watercolor drawing of me graduating in a cap and gown and my childhood self waving goodbye. I created this by having my sister take a picture of myself in a dress and sketch that out. I then found a photo of my childhood self to use. Once I finished sketching both my younger and present self I was brainstorming ideas on how I could color them in. I found inspiration on Instagram, inspo pic of the girl with long hair is attached below. I then picked my colors and began to "paint" it in. The hardest part was to create my hair color and Mrs.Underhill helped with that! After the colors were created it was pretty easy to shade it in. The big idea was to create something meaningful that represents me and my life. I did that by, sketching a childhood photo of myself waving. I then drew myself in my cap and gown walking the opposite way. My goal was to create kind of a sad yet happy drawing, sad that my childhood is done yet happy that I am on to bigger things. It is a very bittersweet time in my life right now and I thought this artwork represents that feeling well. I tried to connect things in real life and then little things that are symbolizing something through my artwork with colors. I used actual photos of myself as a child and now to sketch from. I used the same color dresses and the blue in the background I think gives it a sad vibe. I added a basketball by my childhood selfs feet because basketball was my life growing up and it helped shape me into the person I am today. In a couple months it will all be over and I am not ready to let go of it yet, but I have no choice now I have the amazing memories and lessons to remember and cling on to. I am very happy with the way this artwork turned out I think this one out of all my projects has the most meaning and thought behind it even though it may look simple to some. My idea is to draw me in my cap and gown and my childhood self waving at me. Another idea would be to draw me graduation and the other half of me in scrubs because I want to be a nurse. These are just some sketches and a list of things in my life. I also had to idea of having my childhood self in black and white and me graduating in color but I am not sure which would look better, I think the black and white would put more meaning behind it. |
