Standard Evidence- 1. What was your original plan? How did you improve that plan as you completed your artwork? My original plan was draw a side profile picture of myself. After I drew that (not good) I realized it did not show my identity and who I am. So I looked through Mrs. Underhills slides again and I saw a picture of half a face and the other half of things that person's likes showing their identity. So I had the idea to draw an eye and inside the eye have things that I enjoy and love and stuff that represents me. 2. Who gave you feedback on your artwork? How did that help you improve your artwork? My sister and Mrs.Underhill gave me feedback. My sister, Lyndsey, told me which eye I should submit. I drew two and was not sure which one I liked better. Mrs. Underhill said I could add more detail to the iris of the eye, and sent me YouTube links to help! This helped me add detail and just overall make my artwork look better. Artist Statement- 1. Describe your artwork. My artwork is an upclose picture of an eye and an eyebrow. Inside the eye is things that represent my life and things I enjoy. The objects are harder to see on camera. The bottom part of the eye there is a wave because I love lake days and I put that there to represent my cabin which is the most homey comfortable place in my life, it also reminds me of family and my childhood. The pupil is a sun because sunny days are my favorite and put me in such a good mood. I put a butterfly the the left of the iris because they are one of my favorite animals and I think they are beautiful. Above that is a basketball, playing basketball has been my favorite thing to do since I can remember. Playing basketball, and watching it gives me goosebumps almost every time. There is also a cross because my Christianity is very important to me. With Covid and churches not open made me really realize how much I love attending church and listening to our pastor and music on Sunday mornings. I also drew a heart because I try to be as loving and compassionate as I can be. The color behind the objects are a green/blue because that is color of my eye. 2. How did you make your artwork? I watched a YouTube video on how to draw an eye that also included eyelashes and eyebrows. After I sketched the outline I shaded everything in and blended the outside. Then drew my objects and colored in the iris. 3. What's the big idea? What inspired you? To show what things represents my life and what I love. Looking through Mrs.Underhills slides and seeing examples inspired me. 4. What were your goals for the artwork? My goal for the artwork was to show the things in my life that others may not know much about. 5. What are your overall thoughts of the artwork? I liked how it turned out overall. I think if I were to re do this I would have made the image bigger then I could have drawn the object/things that interest me with more detail then it would be easier to see. Also could have added more, for example maybe words or even a bible verse. I also would have done the iris more careful and maybe would have used small markers so the colors could blend together.

I chose to repurpose. I used the things people normally just walk past and do not acknowledge. I chose to repurpose because I wanted to explore around my house and maybe find something I have never seen before. I went to take my photos just outside my house by the woods. I went there because I realized my cabin would not have that much to photograph yet because no flowers have bloomed. I used Pic Collage to arrange my pictures. I took pictures of our wood pile, a tree, pine tree, rocks, a flower bush, long skinny birch wood, some plant, and some bricks. My favorite picture was the piece of wood from our wood pile because I think it looks really neat and I like how it focus' on the little details. I did realize all these little things around my house could create a cool collage and art piece and I think that was my favorite part was just exploring and looking for little things that had different textures! Art can be used to create awareness by taking pictures of your art sharing your thoughts behind the artwork then sharing those thoughts and pictures with your friends and families. I also thinking posting them on social media has a huge impact!! Even just posting pictures of the artwork and not sharing the meaning allows the viewers to interpret what they think it means and then creates discussion. -Standard Evidence-
1. What was your original plan? How did you work to improve that plan as you completed your artwork? (Explore & Develop) My original plan was to draw a fish and color it with colored pencils but I decided to to just use a pencil and have that as one of my limitations. I first sketched my fish and used the pencil lightly. I knew it needed to be bolder and add some more to the picture. I got feedback from my classmates and Mrs.Underhill and they suggested to use the shaky hand technique and maybe add some seaweed. I improved my artwork by taking feedback into consideration, and using most of the feedback in the final piece. 2. Who gave you feedback as you worked on your artwork? How did this help you improve your artwork? (Reflect & Refine) Mrs.Underhill and my close friends Kloe gave me feedback. They suggested using the shaky hand technique and adding in some seaweed. This helped me improve my artwork by taking others ideas into consideration and then more ideas came to me. I outlined my many times in a messy way for the shaky hand technique and I was not very good at drawing seaweed and one of my limitations was no eraser so I decided to add scales and thought that would add to the artwork. -Artist Statement-
I chose to draw this emoji because during this time away from school and my friends I have been feeling bored, tired, unsure of the future, and kind of sad. But looking on the bright side I have got to read my book, be outside, spend time with my family, and play with my new puppy.
I have tested out many different landscape artworks. For example I tested seascape, cityscape, pencil shading, and tested out painting a tree with a reflection on the water. While testing everything my neighbors gave feedback and suggestions like how to shade and use the brush for certain strokes while painting. Kloe suggested to use watercolor and use that to make an artwork of mountains using different shades of blue with a sunset in the background. I really liked Kloes idea and decided to do that for my final project. Standard EvidenceI knew I wanted to do my artwork project on my succulent that hangs from my car. Once I knew I wanted to work with watercolor I watched some Youtube videos . I found this artist Anna Mason and she did a tutorial on painting the leaves of succulents. I learned to use a pink or purple on the tips of the leaves to make it look more realistic and I also learned to make a few different shades of green for some contrast between the leaves. Before this project we tested watercolor techniques so I did not need to try that out again. I practiced and drew/watercolored my object about 6 times before I started my final. While I was practicing I messed up multiple times and then knew how to fix it to the best of my ability. For example I tried painting the little details while the background was drying and I found out it blended together so then I knew to wait and let it dry. Artist StatementMy artwork looks like a cartoon car succulent not very realistic. The leaves look clustered together. For materials I used watercolors, watercolor paper, and a tiny watercolor brush. I used the dry brush technique and tested out different kinds of watercolor like the liquid watercolor to the watercolor pencils. I learned how to create the colors I wanted by blending and adding water so the color was not so distinct. I just randomly thought of my artwork while I was driving and realized it has some meaning behind it. I got my car succulent with my 2 bestfriends and they also have them hanging in their cars. My goal for this artwork was to improve my watercolor skills and learn more about using them to create an artwork. I wish my final artwork looked more realistic but that comes with lots of practice. Overall I am happy with my artwork because I knew I tried my best! I was on my home from as basketball game thinking of what I should bring in the object art project and I saw my little succulent swinging on my mirror of the car and decided I would like to use it. I then looked up artists in class that created artwork with succulents. Mrs.Underhill suggested using watercolor so I found some YouTube artists that showed step by step how to use the watercolor to create a realistic image of the succulents/plants. I wrote down ideas of materials in my sketchbook, and the YouTube artists names. I then tested out drawing my object and using different kinds of watercolor materials. I tried the watercolor colored pencils and did not really like the way it turned out. I used the water color pallet and really liked it. I realized I need to let it dry before I do little details otherwise I will blend together.
